The Book:
The Life Impossible by Matt Haig is the story of retired math teacher Grace Winters, who inherits a house in Ibiza from a long-lost friend. Why her? How did her friend die? Grace decides to find out. Older readers will relate but it’s really for anyone who enjoys a good story with magical elements about starting over. I loved it!
The Craft:
This was a quick knit that feels like a warm hug on a cold December day. I wear it mostly indoors, at my writing desk or in an easy chair with a cup of tea and my journal.
The Work:
Here’s a snippet from my second novel, (working title: My Summer of Wind and Poppies):
“The halny comes when you least expect it. Even before you feel the touch of the wind, the mountains seem to move closer. They turn a soft lavender, lulling you into a false sense of safety. And on beautiful days in the springtime, when we dare to think of happiness, a strange wind may blow down across the Tatras and change everything.”
The Walk:
My son and I visited the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sicily. These structures are a UNESCO site and were erected by worshipers in the 5th century. An awe-inspiring walk, the quiet of the place, led me to ponder the miracle of my own footsteps traveling the same ground as hundreds (millions?) had before me.
I love the snippet from your WIP. The writing is beautiful, lyrical!
